What is your birthstone?
Alexandrite…named after the Russian Czar Alexander II as it was first discovered on his birthday in 1830. That was also the date he became of ruling age. Alexandrite is thought to assist one in centering themselves and broadening their ability to experience joy.
What is your favorite piece of jewelry and why?
Diamonds…I love diamonds…all they symbolize and the joy they bring.
How long have you been in the jewelry industry?
All my life. Dad opened the store shortly after my first birthday and we kind of grew up with the store. Everybody worked here. My job in the first grade was to come down Saturday morning to wash the floor, sweep the sidewalk and wash the window inside and out. If my work passed inspection I was given enough money to go to the Saturday matinee, have a soda and a popcorn – all for 35cents.
What do you love most about Olympia?
What a wonderful "community." Not just the beautiful location on Puget's Sound but the sense of community one gets from living here.
What is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face?
Seeing the joy that our jewelry brings to others.
What is your ultimate dream vacation?
Two (or three) weeks in Tuscany/northern Italy.
What's something on your "bucket list"?
To pick up our grandchildren from school and tell them we only have a couple of stops before we go home. Then drive to Seatac, get on a plane and fly to Paris where we would stay for a week or two before taking them home.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
"The way we get to live forever is through memories stored in the hearts and souls of those whose lives we have touched…It seems to me we should spend our lives in a consistent state of creating these meaningful moments that live on. Memories matter." Leeza Gibbons
